Description: Long-Term Oil and Gas Contract Attorney/Midland - We are assisting an independent E&P company to find an experienced (7+ years) oil and gas attorney for a long-term contract position in Midland, Texas. This attorney will provide legal counsel for matters affecting the day-to-day Texas and New Mexico operations of the Midland Division. The successful candidate will have upstream experience dealing with day to day company issues especially land and title issues.

Duties and Responsibilities:

Oil and gas lease negotiations

Lease clause interpretations (post production clause, shut-in clause, ambiguities, etc.)

Asset conveyance, acquisition, and trade agreements

Owner disputes-lawsuits, lease forfeitures, etc.

Surface access agreements

Exploration agreements

Joint operating agreements

Marketing and gathering agreements

Compliance with contractual, statutory, regulatory and other legal requirements

The rules and regulations governing oil and gas activities and the land related activities of the Mildand Division in Texas and New Mexico.

Candidates must have at least 7 years of solid on point oil and gas experience and be able to work in a collegial team environment with others at all levels and in all disciplines. Candidates must be able to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Candidates also must be active members of the State Bar of Texas or the State Bar of New Mexico.
