Description: EH&S Counsel - A prominent global E&P company based in Houston, has created a new global role for an EH&S attorney. This company features a diverse portfolio of domestic and international assets (both onshore and offshore), and this new position will serve as the company-wide legal expert on environmental health, safety, and regulatory issues.
• Provides EHS legal advice and services to company and affiliates
• Interacts as needed with relevant governmental agencies
• Monitors regulatory and statutory developments
• Assists with EHS related training, due diligence, investigations and emergency response
• Represents the Company in industry and community affairs
• Maintaining maximum expertise in the attorney's legal field of responsibility, keeping abreast of policy and regulatory developments, participating with other in-house personnel and with industry associations in providing constructive input to governmental bodies on legislative and regulatory issues.
• Specific responsibilities for this job include extensive client counseling in laws, rules and regulatory policies and guidelines, review and analysis of the environmental aspects of business transactions, and participation in the selection and oversight of outside counsel.

Interested candidates must have:
• Juris Doctorate required and current active admission in a US State Bar Association.
• At least 8 years of environmental law experience in advocacy or management related to investigations, orders, agreements, and counseling with primary responsibility for a portfolio of legal matters.
• Colorado, Texas, Gulf of Mexico and/or International Regulatory Legal experience preferred.
• Expertise in air and water matters, remediation and regulatory investigations
• Upstream energy industry and/or midstream business experience strongly preferred
• Prior in-house and law firm experience preferred
