Description: Contract Oil & Gas Division Attorney Midland - we are assisting an independent E&P company to hire an experienced (7+ year) oil & gas attorney for a long-term contract position in Midland, TX. This attorney will provide legal counsel for matters affecting the day-to-day operations of the Midland Division.

Duties and Responsibilities:
Responsible for providing legal advice in a timely, team oriented and cost effective manner for the Midland Division, including the following:
• Oil and gas lease negotiations
• Lease clause interpretation (post production clause, shut-in clause, ambiguities, etc.)
• Owner disputes- lawsuits, lease forfeitures, etc.
• Surface access agreements
• Exploration agreements
• Joint operating agreements
• Marketing and gathering agreements
• Compliance with contractual, statutory, regulatory and other legal requirements
• The rules and regulations governing oil and gas activities and the land-related activities of the Midland Division.
• Title work

• J.D. from an accredited law school
• Relevant legal experience (7+ years of experience preferred)
• Excellent communication, organizational and analytical skills and the ability to provide concise, practical advice in a timely manner
• Strong interpersonal skills: a team player who works effectively with others at all levels and in all disciplines in a team environment and is able to maintain a sense of humor and camaraderie in working with others
• Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines
• Active member of the State Bar Association of Texas
