Description: Senior Counsel Corporate Compliance - Our client, an internet giant with extensive retail operations as well as a host of other innovative enterprises, is seeking a senior attorney to join their global legal compliance and ethics team in Seattle. The successful candidate will have several key roles including the design, administration, and support of the company’s legal compliance and ethics program; leading annual risk assessments; providing compliance advice and guidance to attorneys and business leaders globally; working with attorneys and business leaders throughout the organization to monitor, track, and help manage compliance and training goals; and coordinating with the company’s Risk Management, Internal Audit, HR, and Finance teams, both in the U.S. and overseas. The successful candidate will also monitor, supervise, and independently conduct internal investigations of fraud allegations and other potential legal and regulatory issues.
Qualified candidates must have:
• J.D. and licensed in at least one state;
• 8+ years of experience, including at least 5 years regulatory or compliance experience with corporations, law firms, or government agencies;
• Hands-on project management experience, including the ability to manage a large number and variety of mission-critical projects, working independently and often in ambiguous environments;
• Experience in crisis management and response;
• Familiarity with Internet, retail, software and/or media industries and the legal and regulatory environment in which they operate;
• Team player and consensus builder with great people skills, practical business judgment and a good sense of humor who can effectively and efficiently collaborate and build relationships with attorneys and business clients at all levels throughout the organization;
• Highest standards of ethics and professional integrity;
• Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, as well as demonstrated proficiency in working closely with and advising senior executives of an organization;
• Ability and willingness to travel and work extended hours when necessary;
• Language skills, especially Spanish, a plus
